Car Seat Regulations in France


*Children under 10 years old must be in a car seat appropriate to their weight.  The car seat may not be placed in the front. (see exception for babies below).

Children up to 18kg (36 pounds) must use a car seat with a harness.  For babies below 9kg, the car seat must be rear facing and can be placed in the front or back of the car but only in seats without an airbag or in a seat with the airbag deactivated. 

Children from 15kgs up to 10 years can be seated in a booster seat, but not in the front seat.
